This Privacy Policy explains how the hair styling tool iOS application (“the App”) handles your information. The App is developed and operated by Ruslan Kovalev / Unicorner (“we”, “us”, “the developer”). By using the App you agree to the terms below. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Summary in one sentence
The App sends the photo you choose and the text prompt you select to Google’s Gemini API for AI image transformation. We operate no servers, store no user data, and have no analytics or advertising. The only third party that processes your data is Google.
2. Data we collect and process
2.1 Data stored only on your device
- Google AI Studio API key — saved in iOS UserDefaults (
@AppStorage). Never transmitted to us. Removed when you uninstall the App.
- Generated images and version history — kept in app memory during your session only. Discarded when you close the App, unless you explicitly tap the Save button to add them to your iOS Photos library.
2.2 Data sent to Google Gemini (third-party processor)
When you tap a preset, type a custom prompt, or trigger any generation, the App sends the following directly from your device to Google’s Gemini API endpoint (generativelanguage.googleapis.com) using HTTPS:
- The photo you selected or captured (which contains your face)
- The text prompt describing the requested transformation
- Your Google API key as authentication
We do not see, proxy, store, log, retain, or otherwise access this data at any point. The request goes from your device directly to Google’s servers.
2.3 What we do not collect
- No backend server
- No user accounts or login
- No analytics, telemetry, or crash reporting
- No advertising identifiers (IDFA)
- No tracking SDKs of any kind
- No third-party code other than the direct HTTPS calls to Google’s API described above
3. Face Data — explicit disclosure
The App processes images that contain your face. Apple’s App Store Review Guidelines require explicit disclosure of how face data is handled:
- What face data is collected? The App captures or imports a still photo that includes your face. The App does not extract, compute, or store any facial biometric template, face embedding, facial geometry, or identification vector. The App does not perform facial recognition, face identification, face matching, or any biometric analysis. The App does not use ARKit face tracking, Vision face landmarks, or HealthKit data.
- How is the face data used? The full photo (including your face) is sent to Google’s Gemini API to generate a stylized image that depicts a hair, makeup, or grooming transformation of the same person. The face is used only as the subject of the transformation requested by you.
- Is the face data shared with third parties? Yes — with Google, as a processor. The photo is transmitted to Google’s Gemini API. We do not share the photo or any other data with any other party. No data brokers, no advertisers, no analytics vendors.
- Where is the face data stored?
- On your device: in iOS app memory only, for the duration of your session.
- On our servers: nowhere — we operate no servers.
- At Google: governed by Google’s Gemini API terms and Google’s privacy policy. Google may retain inputs on the free tier for product improvement; paid-tier customers have stricter retention guarantees from Google.
- How long is face data retained?
- By the developer: zero retention — we never receive or store the photo.
- On your device: session-only, unless you explicitly save a result image to your iOS Photos library (in which case standard iOS Photos rules apply).
- At Google: per Google’s published retention policy at https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms — which we cannot modify on your behalf.
We confirm that Google, the third party we share data with, provides protection of personal data that is the same as or equivalent to the protection described in this Privacy Policy, by way of Google’s own Privacy Policy and the Gemini API Terms of Service.
4. Your consent
The App displays a consent screen on first launch (and again any time the consent has not yet been recorded) that:
- Names Google Gemini as the third-party processor that will receive your photo and prompt;
- Explains that the photo and prompt leave your device and reach Google’s servers;
- Requires you to tap an explicit “I agree” action before any photo is transmitted.
You can withdraw consent at any time by uninstalling the App. No photo or prompt is sent to Google until you have given consent.
- Your API key authenticates your requests to Google’s Gemini API.
- Your photo and prompt are used solely to generate the AI image transformation you requested.
- Saving a generated image to your iOS Photos library happens only when you explicitly tap the save button.
6. Third-party services
The App relies on the Google Gemini API to generate images. By using the App you also agree to:
- Google AI / Gemini API Terms of Service — https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms
- Google Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy — https://policies.google.com/terms/generative-ai/use-policy
- Google Privacy Policy — https://policies.google.com/privacy
On Google’s free tier, Google may review and use your prompts and images to improve their products. Please do not submit sensitive, confidential, or personal content while using the free tier.
7. Permissions the App requests
- Camera (
NSCameraUsageDescription) — to capture a selfie for processing.
- Photo Library — Add Only (
NSPhotoLibraryAddUsageDescription) — used only when you explicitly tap the save button on a generated image.
- Photo Library — Pick (PHPicker) — when you choose an existing photo, iOS runs the picker out-of-process; the App receives only the single image you select.
8. Children
The App is restricted to users 18 years of age or older, as required by Google’s Gemini API Terms of Service. We do not knowingly collect or process any data from minors.
9. Data linked to your identity
The data sent to Google (photo + prompt) is transmitted alongside your Google API key, which identifies your Google account. As a result, Google may link this data to your identity. We never see this association.
10. Tracking
The App does not track you across other apps or websites. No advertising identifiers (IDFA) are accessed, no data brokers are involved, and no Third-Party Data is combined with the data sent to Google.
11. Your rights
Because we hold no user data on our servers, there is no account to delete with us. To delete or export data held by Google, please use the controls in your Google AI Studio account: https://aistudio.google.com/
To remove the App and its locally stored data (your API key), uninstall the App from your device.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
